Moldovan official journal roundup for 21 December

Chisinau, 20 December /MOLDPRES/- The promulgation decree and the law on compliance control with quality requirements for fresh fruit and vegetables will be published in the Official Journal of Moldova on 21 December.

Under the new legislation, control will be carried out at all stages of the food chain to the end consumer and will apply to private people and legal entities, except for domestic sector. Conformity checks will be carried out by the National Agency for Food Safety, which will monitor and set out a control system, including risk assessment.

Fresh fruit and vegetables quality certificates will be issued free of charge by the inspection body in paper or electronic form. At the same time, the monitoring body will set a database of economic agents in the food chain involved in activities related to fresh fruit and vegetable sector.

So far, fruits and vegetables placed in the food chain have not been labeled, sorted or graded according to quality requirements, and their price is standard for a mixture of classes, varieties or caliber, which disadvantages consumers.
