Landowners to be obliged to destroy weeds in Moldova

Chisinau, 20 December /MOLDPRES/ - The decree on the promulgation and the law on the amendment of the Land Code will be published in the 21 December issue of the Official Journal (Monitorul Oficial).

According to the new legislative provisions, the landowners will be imposed sanctions for failure to fulfill the obligation of combating and preventing the spread of weeds. The fines are seen to reach 1,500 lei for private persons and 6,000 lei at the most for legal entities. The fines will be imposed by the Inspectorate for Environmental Protection.

Also, the district and municipal councils, as well as the village and town ones will exercise control over the use and protection of lands.

The amendments of the legislation in force are aimed at diminishing the negative effects on residents’ health, triggered my more weeds, including ambrosia.
