Chisinau, 20 December /MOLDPRES/ - The management of the Ungheni, Calarasi and Straseni districts, as well as seven non-governmental organizations in the environment sector today signed a memorandum of understanding on the development of roads’ infrastructure in Moldova. The document sees more actions to promote the need of constructing the highway Chisinau-Ungheni, which will be inter-connected to the European transport network.
“We have ruled to cooperate, in order to carry out together different activities due to deal with the creation of projects, with non-refundable financing or grants, in order to make possible the construction of the Chisinau-Ungheni highway, which will be inter-connected to the route Ungheni-Iasi-Targu Mures from Romania. Thus, we will have access to a quality European road,” the director of the Institute of Development and Expertise of projects, Iurie Calestru, said.
Under the memorandum, partners will cooperate to get external and domestic financing, which will make possible the partial or full implementation of projects. “For this, first of all, feasibility studies are necessary, which we are set to work out by common consent,” the head of the Employers’ Association of the Tourism Industry and Biotica Society, Gabriel Margineanu, noted.
The initiative is appreciated by the local administrations of the three districts involved, which see in this highway more possibilities to develop the infrastructure and increase the investments flow.
“With the support of foreign partners, we have managed to build the by-pass road and if we manage to construct this highway, we might build also a bridge with customs service and a single checkpoint. All these would interest investors and would motivate people to remain at home,” the deputy head of the western Ungheni district, Alexandru Branza, said.
The memorandum signed today is envisaged for five years and the detailed planning of actions will be stipulated in a separate agreement.
