Chisinau, 20 December /MOLDPRES/ - The carrying out of joint control with Romania is an absolute priority of Moldova’s Border Police. The head of the Moldovan Border Police, Fredolin Lecari, has made statements to this effect in an interview given exclusively to MOLDPRES.
According the head of the Border Police, the intentions to start the joint control were presented two years ago.
„Presently, there is a draft agreement in this respect, submitted to the Romanian authorities. We received a note on behalf of colleagues from Romania last year. At present, we have assurances on behalf of our Romanian counterparts that we will make an assessment of the posts’ infrastructure in early next year. At the same time, we proposed to make a testing at the crossing point Lipcani – Radauti – Prut and to launch an eventual joint control there,” Lecari noted.
At the same time, the management of the Border Police said that the enforcement of the martial law on a part of Ukraine’s territory had not jeopardized the work of the Moldovan-Ukrainian crossing points. “All those 33 border checkpoints work as normal. No hindrances have been signaled during the crossing of the Moldovan-Ukrainian border so far,” Fredolin Lecari added.
