China's ambassador to Moldova awarded highest distinction of Customs Service

Chisinau, 20 December /MOLDPRES/ - Ambassador of China to Moldova Zhang Yinghong today was awarded the highest distinction of the Customs Service, Cross for Merit/First Class.
The medal was offered by Director of the Customs Service Vitalie Vrabie, as a token of high gratitude for the significant contribution to the modernization of Moldova’s customs system and successful carrying out of the project on endowing two customs checkpoints with scanners of the latest generation.
The scanners were donated by the Chinese government within a project on assistance worth 5.7 million dollars. The first scanner was set at the customs checkpoint Chisinau International Airport in last May and its cost is of 1.2 million dollars.
Subsequently, one of the most advanced scanners existing presently on market was inaugurated at the Ocnita-railway customs checkpoint on 8 December this year. It is about a scanning system meant for inspecting goods carried by train. Due to the higher technical parameters, the installation allows detecting undeclared goods in the train in movement, no matter the way of their hiding or disguising. The cost for the construction of this scanner amounted to 4.5 million dollars.
The first stationary scanner was donated by the government of China in 2015 and was set at the Leuseni customs checkpoint.
During discussions, Vitalie Vrabie thanked the diplomat for the assistance provided to carry out the project.
For his part, Ambassador Zhang Yinghong expressed confidence that “the equipments donated will enhance the efficiency of the customs body and will ensure a better cross-border security.”
Distinctions were provided also to representatives of the Customs Service and the state enterprise Railway of Moldova, which ensured the good implementation of the project in Ocnita. The Customs head thanked them for involvement and responsibility proved on the entire period of construction of the first scanner on the railway of Moldova.
