Moldovan PM says governance agrees to have systemic, fundamental approach of veterans' problems

Chisinau, 20 December /MOLDPRES/ - The problems and needs of war veterans from the central Straseni district were discussed at a forum of the veterans and power-wielding forces from this district today. The event is aimed at strengthening the dialogue between policemen, servicemen, veterans and the cabinet, the government’s communication and protocol department has reported.
„The veterans’ social protection has been always in my attention and in the one of the government I lead. We have agreed to have a systemic and fundamental approach on the problems you are facing,” Pavel Filip said. The PM noted that a string of actions to back veterans had been already carried out by the cabinet, among which also the implementation of an action plan, Memory. Honour. Respect.
Therefore, decision-makers established an allowance of 500 lei to the spouses or parents of the persons who were posthumously awarded the Order of the Republic and Stefan cel are Order and set the one-off annual material assistance worth 1,000 lei. Additionally, a monthly allocation of 250 lei was established for widows and a monthly allocation of 500 lei - to the parents of the dead. At the same time, the Clinical Hospital of the Health, Labour and Social Protection Ministry is nominated in charge of specialized treatment of war veterans. The number of veterans benefitting from rehabilitation at the Republican Experimental Centre of Prosthesis, Orthopedics and Rehabilitation (CREPOR) has increased. At the same time, the pension for the war invalids of the seasoned military and reservists was increased. Presently, this pension is of 1,500 lei, 2,500 lei and 3,500 lei, depending on the invalidity degree. Actions for backing military were undertaken. Thus, next week, 335 servicemen will receive new social flats.
Pavel Filip also said that the government identified possibilities to increase the monthly allocation for war veterans, which is now 100 lei, as well as for establishing a mechanism of providing free of charge transport through financial compensation. For their part, the veterans praised the personal involvement of the prime minister in the process of settling their problems.
The PM thanked the veterans for devotion and courage, stressing that they were true promoters of patriotism and love of country.
At the event, more war veterans, military and policemen were awarded diplomas and distinctions. The forum of veterans of war and power-wielding forces from the Straseni district brought together more than 500 participants.
