Chisinau, 20 December /MOLDPRES/ - Economics and Infrastructure Minister Chiril Gaburici has discussed with representatives of the European Bank for Reconstruction and Development (EBRD) the initiation of a public-private partnership on the construction of 50,000 square metres of physical infrastructure for an IT park.
„The 2018 year has been a year when we have managed to achieve very good results in the information technology and communications sector. The first IT Park, Moldova IT Park, was set up this year; the park presently registers over 300 IT companies, of which 87 companies with foreign capital, 71 newly created companies, 5,900 employees, salaries between 23,000 and 220,000 lei. And we do not want to stop here; we have great plans – we want to build more than 50,000 square metres in public-private partnership – a physical infrastructure project for an IT Park,” Chiril Gaburici said.
According to the minister, the construction of 50,000 square metres of physical infrastructure for the IT park will make Moldova a more attractive destination for the IT business.
In a press release, the Economics Ministry said that EBRD representatives had showed interest in the project on physical infrastructure for the IT Park.
The IT industry has exceeded all the other sectors of the economy in the last two years. The turnover in the IT field increased by 50 per cent in 2016 and 2017 each and the volume of exports grew by 68 per cent.
