Moldovan writer marks anniversary of 75 years of age

Chisinau, 20 December /MOLDPRES/ – A literary medal titled: The customs to the values of the soul. Vlad Zbarciog 75 years after his birth, took place today in the hall with fireplace of the Union of Writers of Moldova (USM).

The event was organised by the host institution and the National Museum of Literature Mihail Kogalniceanu. There is also a photodocumentary exhibition, which contains over 40 books of the author.

In his speech, the President of USM, Arcadie Suceveanu, mentioned that Vlad Zbarciog came to this anniversary with nine volumes at Publishing House Pontos, which include the whole spectrum of his creation: novels, storoes, lyrics, publishing, essays, etc.

"Vlad Zbarciog can compete with the most prolific writers in our country. He has been in the writing practice for many years. He has published many novels. His novels are radiographs of the history of the suffering that the Bessarabian Romanians have experienced: war, famine, deportation, forced collectivisation. He is a very good psychologist," said Arcadie Suceveanu.

In the context, literary critic Ion Ciocanu remarked that Vlad Zbarciog knows life quite well, and the novel of his life is of particular interest. "She debuted with the volume of short stories: Flacari albastre, portocalii (Blue, orange flames), short prose being a launching run for him, but the special emphasis put him in his journalism, which addresses pressing issues", said Ion Ciocanu.

Vlad Zbarciog was born on 22 December 1943 in Horodiste village, Balti county, Rascani district today. He graduated the Tiraspol School of Medicine in 1963 and the State University in Chisinau in 1973. He worked as editor at the National Television of Moldova (1968 – 1973). Then, he worked at weekly newspaper: Literatura si Arta (Literature and Art) and magazine Cultura (Culture), writing articles, essays (1973 – 1998). He collaborated with studio Moldova – film as documentary filmmaker. He has edited over 40 volumes of prose, lyrics, essays, and journalism. He was deputy director of Literary Museum M. Kogalniceanu in Chisinau, secretary of USM. He is awarded several prizes, as well as honorary title Master of Literature in 2010.
