Chisinau, 21 December /MOLDPRES/- Over 60,000 people receiving social allowances below 2,000 lei will receive in the coming weeks 600 lei for the winter holidays. The government has taken responsibility for this bill, given that parliament is unable to adopt organic laws, the government’s communication and protocol department has reported.
"We offered 600 lei for all pensioners who have pensions of less than 2,000 lei. Already 540,000 citizens have got it. The positive dynamics of budget revenues, the stable economy and the forecasts for 2019 allow us to expand the list of beneficiaries of this aid", Prime Minister Pavel Filip said.
Thus, financial aid worth 600 lei will be offered to the following categories:
1. People who have reached retirement age, but because they do not have full length of service or have not been able to prove with documents that they have worked and receive an allowance of several hundred lei.
2. People receiving disability allowances:
- disability (of all grades: severe, sharp, medium)
- childhood disability (of all grades: severe, sharp, medium)
- disability (aged under 18) (of all grades: severe, sharp, medium)
3. People who receive benefits because they have lost their breadwinner.
The prime minister noted that the government's reforms are for people and thanked the citizens for their patience in 2016, in 2017, when reforms were not at all simple, so that these reforms could bring concrete results in 2018. "For me, as Prime Minister, there is no greater satisfaction than the days when we can make decisions that improve people's lives through our own effort, with our own forces and resources. That, for my part, means correct governance, a government that focuses on concrete things for people,” he said.
According to the Constitution, the government can assume parliamentary responsibility for a program, a general policy statement, or a bill. If no censure motion is submitted within 3 days, voted by majority vote, the program, the general policy statement or the bill shall be considered adopted.
