Chisinau, 21 December /MOLDPRES/ - The Moldovan parliament’s standing bureau today took note of the government’s taking responsibility before the parliament on a draft law for providing one-off assistance worth 600 lei before the winter holidays.
Parliament Speaker Andrian Candu made statements to this effect at the end of the standing bureau’s meeting.
Candu noted that, if no motion of censure is submitted on the next 72 hours, the amendments for which the cabinet took responsibility will enter into force. At the same time, if at least 26 lawmakers sign an eventual motion, then the parliament will hold a meeting to take a decision.
About 61,000 people will benefit from one-off aid as a result of the government’s decision.
Under the Article 1061 of Moldova’s Constitution, the government can take responsibility before the parliament on a programme, a declaration of general policy or a draft law. The government is dismissed, if a motion of censure, submitted in a three-day period after the draft’s presentation, is voted by the majority of the MPs.
