Chisinau, 23 December /MOLDPRES/- About 5,100 inhabitants of Zăluceni, Vertiujeni, Târgul-Vertiujeni and Japca villages in Floresti district will have access to drinking water. In the four localities the construction and assembly works of the aqueduct systems have recently been completed.
The works were carried out within the project - Water for Life in the Northern Region: Floreşti and Soroca, co-financed through the Swiss Water and Sanitation Project in Moldova (ApaSan) and implemented by North Regional Development Agency (ADR Nord). The water supply service will be provided by Floreşti communal services.
In the Zăluceni village there were built drinking water distribution networks with a length of 14.5 km, in Vertiujeni - 17.1 km and Târgul-Vertiujeni - 12 km. Also, pipelines with a total length of 10.7 km were installed and the wells and water tanks were built. Zăluceni, Vertiujeni and Târgul-Vertiujeni will benefit from drinking water from the Dniester River. The water supply system could be developed in several expansion stages to supply 14 localities with a total of 17,000 inhabitants.
The value of the construction and assembly works in Zăluceni, Vertiujeni, Târgul-Vertiujeni and Japca villages amounts to 29.24 million lei, money allocated through the Swiss Water and Sanitation Project in Moldova (ApaSan).
"It's been very little until the drinking water reaches people's homes. We are on the brink of achieving this important goal. It is also an attraction that the built aqueduct systems have the technical characteristics necessary for the extension of the water supply service, "said Constantin Bandiu, head of the ADR Nord department.
The localities of Zăluceni, Vertiujeni, Târgul-Vertiujeni and Japca are among the 11 localities benefiting from the project "Water for Life in the Northern Region: Floreşti and Soroca", implemented by ADR Nord in partnership with the Moldovan subsidiary of SKAT Foundation.
The total budget of the project amounts to 66.86 million lei, of which 29.90 million lei are requested from the sources of the National Fund for Regional Development and 30.4 million lei represent the co-financing of ApaSan.
