Writer Alexe Rau would be 65 years

Chisinau, 23 December /MOLDPRES/- Poet, essayist and bibliologist Alexe Rău, philosopher of culture, ex-director of the National Library, holder of the Order of Honor, of Civic Merit Medal and of Mihai Eminescu Medal would have turned 65 years today.
He was born in 1953 in Larga village, Briceni district. In 1975 he graduated from the Faculty of Librarianship and Bibliography of the State University of Chisinau, after which he worked for one year as a university lecturer at the same faculty. Since 1976, he has been incorporated into the National Library structures.
In 1992 he was appointed as director-general of the National Library.
Together with a team of experts, he worked out the National Program for reforming libraries in the country, storing and guiding these institutions to national values and strategic model of the national libraries system. He developed the conception and initiated the establishment of the National Librarianship Council and School of Library in Moldova.
Alexe Rău elaborated the new European concept of the National Library of the Republic of Moldova, which is being implemented in the main reform of this institution, started in 1992, with the installation to the post of director-general of this institution.
Alexe Rău is the author of over 820 studies, articles, essays in collections and specialized periodicals in Moldova, Romania, Russia, USA, Austria, France, Serbia, Canada, Belarus, Ukraine, where he gave speeches at conferences, symposiums, seminars.
He died on 8 April 2015, in Chisinau.
