Chisinau, 26 December /MOLDPRES/ – Eleven ethno – folk groups from several districts of Moldova have participated today at the fourth issue of the Christmas Carol, entitled: Hristos se naste, slaviti – L! (Christ is born, glorify Him!), which took place at the National Museum of Ethnography and Natural History (MNEIN) in Chisinau.

The event was organised in collaboration with the Synodal Sector Cultural Relations of the Chisinau and All Moldova Metropolitan Metropolitan Area, in the context of the registration of the Colindate of Motherhood in 2013 on the Representative List of Immaterial Cultural Heritage of Humanity by the Republic of Moldova and Romania.

Interviewed by agency, director of the National Museum of Ethnography and Natural History, Petru Vicol, said that the festival aims to promote and promote the custom of the carols and the diversity of the repertoire of secular and religious carols.

"The pieces are selected based on the criteria of authenticity, aesthetic value and corresponding artistic interpretation. Unfortunately, many do not know the significance of this celebration – the birth of Jesus Christ. On this day we pay homage and praise to our Saviour and try to be better and more merciful to each other," said Petru Vicol.

In context, Elena Oca, a popular rhapsod from Gotesti village, Cantemir district, said that it would be good to introduce an ethnography course in the educational institutions, so that the young generation could better understand folklore, folk costumes, traditions and customs. "Such a course is held at the High School Mihail Sadoveanu in the capital, by Valeriu Chiperi, the head of band Mostenitorii, who collected more than 300 carols from our villages. Unfortunately, today many teachers and performers can not distinguish a carol from a song of a carol," said Elena Oca.

The carols recital was opened by choir Bunavestire from the Theoretical High School Mesterul Manole and church Adormirea Maicii Domnului in Salcuta village, Causeni district, the leader – priest Nicolae Jelihovschi. The following have evolved: the folk group from Ciorescu commune, Chisinau municipality, as well as from Pepeni village, Sangerei district, Taraclia village, Causeni district, Stefan – Voda city, Cruglic village, Criuleni district, Tipala village, Ialoveni district. Folklore performer Doina Sarbu, a professor at the School of Arts in Straseni city completed the programme with a beautiful recital of carols.

During the event, there were awarded several journalists with gratitude diplomas to promote cultural and scientific events dedicated to traditional culture, history and national heritage, organised by the National Museum of Ethnography and Natural History.
