Higher allowances to 3,800 children left without parental care in Moldova

Chisinau, 26 December /MOLDPRES/ – As of 01 January 2019, children left without parental care and children placed in orphanages will receive higher allowances, the government's communication and protocol department has reported.
The Executive has approved today the Regulation on the types, amounts and conditions for granting allowances for raising and caring for these categories of children. The document aims to unify the paid benefits and improve the material situation of children placed in family – type services.
According to new provisions, the children placed in guardianship/tutorship, those placed in the social service of professional parental assistance and those in the family – type orphanages will benefit from a monthly allowance of MDL 1,400. It was increased by 75 per cent – previously the children received MDL 800, MDL 930 and MDL 750, respectively.
Also, it was set the unique allowance of MDL 3,513 for the children placed in the guardianship/guardian service, and for the beneficiaries of the professional parental assistance and the children from the family type homes it was increased from MDL 3,000 – MDL 3,513.
The document also provides for 30 per cent, 50 per cent and 100 per cent increments of single childcare allowances for children aged between 1 and 3 years and children under the age of one.
In order to pay the established allowances, there were provided additional financial resources amounting to about MDL 40.5 million in the state budget (BS) for 2019.
