New contract on construction of main aqueduct in southern Moldova signed

Chisinau, 27 December /MOLDPRES/ - The South Regional Development Agency (ADR Sud), Cahul district council and the mayoralty of the Lebedenco village have recently signed a new contract on acquisition of works worth over 20 million lei. The money is to be turned to account for the construction of a main aqueduct in southern Moldova.

It is about an enterprise contract for the construction (stage I, phase II) of the main aqueduct Cahul-Lebedenco-Pelinei-Gavanoasa-Vulcanesti-Alexandru Ioan Cuza and the interior networks of the villages Lebedenco, Hutulu, Ursoaia, Pelinei, Satuc, Gavanoasa, Vladimirovca and Nicolaevca of the southern Cahul district.

In last autumn, ADR Sud and the Cahul district council signed another enterprise contract, worth about 27 million lei, in order to purchase works of construction (stage I, phase I) of the same aqueduct.

The stage I of the investment measure, Construction of the main aqueduct Cahul-Lebedenco-Pelinei-Gavanoasa-Vulcanesti (villages)-Alexandru Ioan Cuza and the interior networks of the villages Lebedenco, Hutulu, Ursoaia, Pelinei, Satuc, Gavanoasa, Vladimirovca and Nicolaevca is financed with funds of development partners. Thus, the Swiss Agency for Development and Cooperation earmarked 2.8 million euros through the German Agency for International Cooperation, within the project, Modernization of local public services in Moldova.

Following the implementation of the first stage of the project, about 11 km of networks of main aqueducts and about 25 km of interior networks of aqueduct will be constructed for the settlements Lebedenco, Hutulu, and Ursoaia, of which more than 2,600 residents will benefit from access to qualitative drinking water.

“This project will contribute to the fulfillment of the initiative on the development of the water and sewerage supply sector and to continuing implementing the strategy of social and economic development of the Cahul district, sources from ADR Sud said.
