Chisinau, 27 December /MOLDPRES/ - Two intelligent traffic lights have been set at two intersections with enhanced traffic from the Botanica district of Moldova’s capital.
According to the Chisinau city hall, they are placed on the intersection of the Street Grenoble and Cuza-Voda Blvd and of the streets Independentei, Tudor Strisca and Hristo Botev.
The objects for easing the road traffic are based on LED, directed through GSM/3G, endowed with acoustic devices for blind people and sensors for collecting data which will ensure the adaptive management of the transport in peak hours.
The decision to set intelligent traffic lights was taken by the city hall, National Patrol Inspectorate and the police department of the Moldovan capital, in order to ease the traffic, ensure the security of the pedestrians’ movement in the zone and cut the number of traffic accidents.
The works for constructing the traffic lights lasted three works and their cost is of 2.87 million lei, allocated from the municipal budget.
The intelligent traffic lights receive information from a string of sensors set under the asphalt. Depending on the number of vehicles activating the sensors, the traffic light can prolong the green colour, so that queues do not appear.
There are more than 180 traffic lights in Chisinau.
