Chisinau, 28 December /MOLDPRES/ - The steps taken by Moldova’s delegation to prompt the sides to implement the protocol in force, which sees working out a mechanism of efficient monitoring of the Security Zone, were reiterated at a meeting of the Joint Control Commission (JCC) on 27 December, the Reintegration Policies Bureau has reported.
Maintenance in the focus of the subject and the Moldovan delegation’s insistences come from multiple incidents recorded in the Security Zone in the last years, persistence of infringements on behalf of Tiraspol’s militarized structures, as well as the deficiencies ascertained in the current procedure of identifying and documenting the infringements.
The arguments unveiled, according to which the sides have already taken obligation to create such a mechanism, as well as that it would allow avoiding incidents in the long run and would help maintain the order in the Security Zone, were not accepted.
On the contrary, the Transnistrian delegation tried to promote in the meeting’s agenda the subject on non-allowing the change of the present mechanisms of control of the situation in the Security Zone.
At the meeting, the head of the Transnistrian delegation was warned about the avoidance of using the JCC’s platform for making political declarations and misinforming the public opinion in his capacity of co-head of the Commission, launching in the public area information and assessments which are not true.
In particular, on 25 December, in an interview given to a publication, the head of the Transnistrian delegation said that Chisinau would destabilize the situation in the Security Zone and would create a negative context in the process of conflict’s settlement.
The gesture is regrettable, given that, at meetings of the Commission, the head of the Transnistrian delegation has earlier pointed out the existence of constructive approaches and tendencies to solve the problems within the competence of JCC.
Following tense discussions, the meeting ended without reaching common mind on making the agenda.
On the occasion of the winter holidays, the members of the Joint Control Commission signed a congratulation made to the peacekeepers and residents of the Security Zone from both banks of Dniester. Traditionally, on 30 December, the JCC representatives will move to the joint posts No 6, 7 and 8 (right/left), placed on the central segment of the Security Zone, to congratulate the peacekeepers.
