Over 370 thousand citizens cross Moldovan border recent week

Chisinau, 31 December /MOLDPRES/ – Within recent week, around 374 thousand citizens crossed the Moldovan border, of which over 212 thousand ones entered Moldova.

According to Border Police's (PF) information and media communication service, the busiest day of the previous week was Saturday, 29 December 2018, with 63,496 crossings. Out of the total number of crossings, a higher number was in the direction of entering Moldova – 34,631 crossings.

Within recent 24 hours the most crossed border points were: Chisinau International Airport (AIC) – 9,644 crossings, Leuseni customs (VL) – 9,207 crossings and Otaci customs (VO) – 7,838 crossings.

In order to streamline traffic before winter holidays, the authorities have increased the number of first – line border crossing control staff – with almost 500 border guards. There were also set up the mixed groups to intervene with the necessary support at the most requested crossing points.

So as to support cross – border traffic, the PF recommends that citizens, before embarking on their journey, check the validity and status of the travel document on the basis of which they intend to cross the state border. Also, it recommends that the population avoid the overcrowded border crossing points and opt for the nearby ones.
