Interview given with the MOLDPRES State News Agency by People’s Artist, composer Eugen Doga
MOLDPRES: Master, please, tell me how the 2018 year was in your life and work?
Eugen Doga: I think that you will not be surprised if I say that it was a good year. I had more concerts in various cities of the world: in Cluj-Napoca, Vienna, Brussels, Ankara, Nizhny Novgorod. I was in the areas where there are my admirers and where I feel good. I like when the audience stand up and applauds me.
M.: What did you compose last year?
E.D.: I composed music for children, waltzes and hymns. I also wrote a book of short stories, which I printed. It is big – it has more than 400 pages.
M.: What was the concert of the year for you?
E.D.: For me, all concerts were golden ones, as they cannot be multiplied – they are unique. I do not think that many musicians had possibility to perform at the Schönbrunn Palace, at the Schlosstheater in the baroque style from Vienna, where Joseph Haydn, Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart and C.W. Gluck, as well as other composers gave concerts. I presented there works made with lyrics by Mihai Eminescu, Veronica Micle and Grigore Vieru, along with the National Symphony Orchestra of the Teleradio-Moldova Public Company, conducted by Dumitru Carciumaru. I had an unforgettable concert in Ankara. Shortly speaking, for me, 2018 was a successful year. Also in 2018, President of Russia Vladimir Putin awarded me the Order of Alexander Nevsky.
M.: What plans do you for 2019?
E.D.: I hope that it will be a year with health and wealth. I will start the events on 15 January, at the musical saloon which bears my name, when we will pay homage to poet Mihai Eminescu. I will play in the Romanian space, the Russian and western ones. May God give me and us health and I will endeavour to reward everything through my music everywhere I am expected.
M.: Thank you for the interview! Happy New Year!
