Chisinau, 3 January /MOLDPRES/- The General Inspectorate for Emergency Situations of MAI started the campaign for the prevention of cases of collapse under ice. Thus, rescuers will monitor the ponds and lakes in the country in the coming weeks and warn fishermen of the danger they are exposed to by fishing.
Liliana Puscasu, the press officer of the nominated inspectorate, said that IGSU employees trained yesterday dozens of people who went fishing on the lake near Vatra (Chisinau). They instructed people to follow security rules and be careful.
According to specialists, the ice layer becomes a danger to fishermen and minors in winter, especially when the air temperature oscillates between minus and plus. It is forbidden people to go out on ice if the layer does not exceed 8-10 cm.
According to IGSU data, in 2018 four people crashed under ice of the aquatic basins.
