Chisinau, 3 January /MOLDPRES/ - A new model of association of lodgers has been recently set up in the western Ungheni city. The association’s goal is to ensure an efficient management of blocks of flats and improve the lodgers’ state of comfort.
The new association was called Modern House and will manage four blocks of flats in the Centre district of Ungheni. The creation of the association is part of the project, Civil involvement for improving the living conditions in the Ungheni municipality. The project is co-financed by the Polish Development Cooperation Programme of Poland’s Foreign Affairs Ministry, through the Solidarity Fund of Poland and is implemented by the Ungheni city hall.
Ungheni mayor Alexandru Ambros welcomed the initiative and showed confidence that, due to the initiative, the Ungheni residents would take advantage of this. “With the support of Polish partners, the works of modernization of the yards of more blocks of flats started in the summer of 2018. It is about an investment worth 1.5 million lei, but which envisages also the condition of setting up this association of lodgers, in order to ensure the sustainability of the project implemented. We hope that this experience will be taken over also by other districts from Ungheni and maybe also by other cities of Moldova,” Ambros noted.
The members of the new association of lodgers from Ungheni will have to pay monthly dues. The money raised will be deposited in the association’s bank account and in this way, a “dowry fund” of the organization will be created, which will not be spent in the first five months. “These five months will be a test period for us. Everybody will carry out a volunteering work. Depending on the sum accumulated, we will understand whether the organization is viable and functional. Together with the lodgers, we ruled that registrations be made for each staircase,” a member of the Modern House association, Raisa Smerdov, said.
The creation of the association of lodgers is an often recorded practice in European states and it has an important advantage, as it works based on a legal mandate. Any infringement can be notified and legal measures can be taken against those who fail to fulfill their duties or trespass the law.
Asked by MOLDPRES what would be the success of a modern association of lodgers in Ungheni, Alexandru Ambros also said that the most important thing was that people are united for a common cause. “I personally believe that the association of lodgers is a good example of civic responsibility,” the Ungheni mayor added.
