Moldovan electoral body turns down registration of electoral contenders on behalf of Shor party

Chisinau, 03 January /MOLDPRES/ – The Central Electoral Commission (CEC) has today rejected the registration of electoral contenders in the national constituency of Shor party.
According to the chairman of CEC, Alina Russu, the competitors proposed by the formation were not registered due to "failure to observe the procedures for nominating candidates".
"The violated provisions concern the persons which approve the list of candidates. The formation can correct the errors and file the recordings repeatedly. The subject is to be discussed at the next Commission meeting," said Russu.
A total of 51 candidates have been proposed from the party. Party Shor filed the recordings in mid – week.
On 02 January, CEC registered electoral candidates from the Democratic Party of Moldova (PDM), Party of Socialists of Moldova (PSRM), electoral bloc ACUM Platforma DA si PAS and the Party of Communists of Moldova (PCM).
The appointment of candidates for the position of MP for the national constituency and each uninominal constituency shall end 30 days before the date of elections. The election campaign for parliamentary elections will begin on 25 January, 1 month prior election.
The parliamentary elections of 24 February will be held after a mixed electoral system, the MPs being elected both on party lists and in constituencies.
