Chisinau, 4 January /MOLDPRES/ - The first performance of a play titled, Vin, femei, și tot ce vrei (Wine, Women and All That You Want) by writer Andrei Strambeanu, stage management of Alexandru Grecu, will take place at the Satiricus I.L. Caragiale National Theatre. This is the first play of this kind in Moldova, during which the audience, as well as actors have possibility to participate in a tasting with six elite wines and select dishes.
Contacted by MOLDPRES, Alexandru Grecu said that the play Wine, Women and All That You Want, was a comedy, a satire about the way the Moldovan society is assessing the true values, a play about the social, conjugal and political morality.
According to the stage manager, the imaginary space where the action takes place is a winery, improvised in the theatre’s hall, where actors and the audience are in the immediate neighbourhood and the latter are sitting at tables. Wine, Women and All That You Want is a play about a scientist with big scientific possibilities, acting as guide at a winery, who experiences more adventures with the former war minister of Iceland, Elvira Thompson.
„This is an interactive play, in which the audience plays the leading part. During the performance, the audience has possibility to enjoy not only the text, but also the select dishes and wines. Thus, the play represents also a promotion of our wines and dishes. In Europe, such plays are plaid in pubs, restaurants and other conventional spaces. For us, however, this is a first ever event of this kind. This play is a continuation of the project on promotion of contemporary dramaturgy, within which ten plays by authors from Moldova were put on the stage of the Satiricus Theatre,” Alexandru Grecu added.
For his part, writer Andrei Strambeanu said that the play had been written back in the Soviet period. Yet, it was not staged for ideological reasons. In 2008, the play was awarded the I.L. Caragiale Prize of the Romanian Academy.
The premiere will take place on 11 January. The number of places is limited. The price of the tickets includes also the food and beverages.
