Chisinau, 5 January /MOLDPRES/ - Eighty million lei will be allocated for purchasing new buses in the Moldovan capital in 2019. Chisinau acting mayor Ruslan Codreanu has made statements to this effect.
According to Codreanu, the current buses are more than 20 years old and the city hall spends 15 million lei for their repair annually. The acting mayor noted that 35 out of those 100 buses of the present park were daily damaged and new ones had not been bought during 12 years.
In these conditions, the services presently provided by the urban park are dramatic, Codreanu said. Chisinau residents have also repeatedly signaled the same thing, as they showed discontent with the conditions in the public transport units.
In 2018, financial resources were earmarked to buy buses and four tenders were held; yet, decision-makers did not manage to purchase new buses. A tender on buying buses was launched on 2 January 2019, Codreanu specified.
The budget of the Chisinau municipality sees revenues worth 3.9 billion lei and spending of 4.23 billion lei for 2019. Codreanu has earlier said that, this year, more than 100 million lei would be allocated for arranging yards of blocks of flats from the Moldovan capital and another 110 million lei for investments in education.
