Chisinau, 7 January /MOLDPRES/ - Moldova’s citizens with right to vote who are abroad or those with residence in settlements on the left bank of Dniester have at their disposal two days to preliminarily register for the parliamentary elections and republican consultative referendum due on 24 February 2019.

Thus, they can fill online the registration form at the column Înregistrare prealabilă (Preliminary Registration) on the webpage www.alegator.md. The registration can be made also on paper, by submitting an application, signed individually or collectively, to the Central Electoral Commission (CEC) and/or to diplomatic missions, consular offices of Moldova.

Voters can preliminarily register till 9 January 2019 (45 days before the election day). The voter can cancel the earlier made registration 25 days before the polls at the latest.

CEC noted that the preliminary registration did not entail the exclusion of citizens from the electoral list here they have residence. If the registered person is in Moldova on the election day, he/she will be able to vote according to the residence.

Under legal provisions, the preliminary registration allows establishing the estimative number of electors due to vote abroad and the voters from the settlement of the left bank of Dniester, in order to facilitate the opening of additional polling stations and determine the estimative number of ballot papers due to be distributed to the concerned polling stations.

Over 15,000 voters have preliminarily registered so far, according to data on the webpage www.alegator.md.
