Glazed frost to maintain on roads in Moldova

Chisinau, 8 January /MOLDPRES/ - Glazed frost will be maintained on more roads in Moldova and the traffic on the national roads will take place in winter conditions. Roadmen monitor the dangerous segments and intervene if needed, the State Administration of Roads (ASD) has given assurances to this effect.  

Thus, drivers setting out today are warned that, among the road segments hit by glazed frost, there are: Chisinau-Orhei-Soroca-Otaci, Chisinau-Ungheni-Sculeni, Anenii Noi-Causeni-Stefan Voda-Palanca, Chisinau-Hanceşti-Cimislia-Comrat-Vulcanești-Giurgiulesti, Hancesti-Leova-Cahul, Rezina-Orhei and Balti-Sarateni. The same situation is recorded also on the roads connecting the Moldovan capital to Leuseni, Dubasari and Bender.   

To combat the glazed frost, 156 road workers last night worked with 75 special equipments, who distributed more than 500 tons of antiskid material. 

The National Patrol Inspectorate (INP) said that vehicles were moving without impediments on Moldova’s roads. In the last 24 hours, 82 INP equipments and over 170 officers were involved on roads of the country. A traffic accident took place on the same period, in the wake of which one person was injured.   

Meteorologists forecast snowfall for the days to come too and the air temperatures will drop to -13 degrees at night.
