Circulation of heavy traffic on Chisinau – Leuseni route suspended

Chisinau, 11 January /MOLDPRES/ – The circulation of heavy tonnage traffic on the Chisinau-Leuseni route was stopped in the morning of 11 January for the road to be cleaned and sprinkled with anti-skid material.
Head of the National Patrol Inspectorate's (INP) press service, Alina Bunghez, told the agency that traffic on this route was stopped as of 09:00, and the traffic of large lorries will be resumed once the route is cleaned.
According to the cited source, there have been activated more than 170 patrol crews and 360 officers during the period of 24 hours of heavy snowfalls in Moldova.
The National Patrol Inspectorate urges all road users to follow police instructions and move 20 – 30 km less than the allowed limit. At the same time, drivers are warned to use daytime and night – time driving lights to reduce the risk of road accidents. In the same way, the INP recommends drivers which start to have their car tanks full, water for 24 hours, food, a warm blanket, tea thermos, the charged phone and the medical kit.
The State Hydrometeorological Service announced for 10 – 11 January the Yellow Code of complicated weather conditions. These days are expected to be snowy, temporarily will blizzard, will be formed snowdrifts on the roads, and sleet and ice on the electric wires and branches.
