Rescuers trail five snow blocked cars in Moldova

Chisinau, 11 January /MOLDPRES/ – The rescuers intervened within recent 24 hours to tow five cars blocked in the snow and took over a 56-year-old man in Criuleni, where they transported him to an ambulance to receive medical care.
Head of the General Inspectorate for Emergency Situations (IGSU), Liliana Puscasu, said that the IGSU employees intervened in the night of 10 January on the Chisinau – Cimislia route, where they managed to unblock a truck and a car that skidded due to ice.
"Also, the intervention of rescuers was needed on 10 January near village Alava, Stefan Voda district for towing a school minibus without children. Other works were carried out at Sangerei and Criuleni. At the same time, according to the operative data collected from the electricity suppliers, there were no light disconnections following the precipitations," said Puscasu.
According to the cited source, IGSU employees will continue to monitor the situation in Moldova and intervene to prevent risk situations.
According to the State Road Administration, the national routes and the access to the localities are practicable, in the middle of the south and the centre of Moldova circulation is under winter conditions, ice has formed on the roads. There have been involved 449 technical units and 559 workers in snow removal.
