All settlements reconnected to power supply in Moldova

Chisinau, 12 January /MOLDPRES/ - All settlements of Moldova have been reconnected to power supply.  

Contacted by MOLDPRES, the press officer of the General Inspectorate for Emergency Situations, (IGSU), Liliana Puscasu, said that, in the wake of the heavy snowfall, 14 settlements from five Moldovan districts had remained partially disconnected from power supply. “All settlements were reconnected to the supply with electricity on 11 January evening,” Puscasu noted.

At the same time, Puscasu specified that, in the last 24 hours, rescuers and firemen had been asked for help in 37 situations, to carry out works of de-blocking or towing blocked touring cars, of which eight interventions were made in the Chisinau municipality.  

„Employees of the inspectorate intervened in the districts of Orhei, Cahul, Cantemir, Leova, Cimislia, Hancesti, Basarabeasca, Rezina, Causeni, Stefan Voda, Criuleni, Anenii Noi, as well as in the Autonomous Territorial Unit of Gagauzia. As many as 445 rescuers and firemen, as well as 141 special technology units were involved in intervention works,” Liliana Puscasu added.    

The crisis cell set up at IGSU remains active and will further monitor the situation in Moldova. In emergency situations, citizens are urged to call the 112 Single Service.

The Yellow Code of complicated weather conditions expired on 11 January. The weather will slightly warm on the days to come, with snowfall in some regions.
