About 50 people suffer from fractures or injuries because of ice in Moldova

Chisinau, 13 January /MOLDPRES/ - About 50 people needed medical care in the last two days, after they had fallen down and suffered from fractures or injuries because of ice on roads.
According to the Health, Labour and Social Protection Ministry, more than 210 patients appealed to doctors because of the weather conditions and heavy snowfall. About 60 of them were hospitalized, 31 were injured and 17 have fractures because of the ice.
At the same time, the AVIASAN service intervened in the case of 13 calls. In some cases, teams of the General Inspectorate for Emergency Situations provided support as well.
According to the ministry, all medical institutions of Moldova work in regime of enhanced alert and provide all medical assistance needed. The institutions are supplied with the necessary medicines and food.
The ministry recommends that residents do not stay outdoors for a long time, especially in case of people suffering from various diseases; residents should bear proper clothes and footwear and call the 112 emergency number in any risk situation.
