Chisinau city hall asks owners of buildings to remove snow, ice from roofs

Chisinau, 13 January /MOLDPRES/ - Local authorities today asked the owners of buildings to remove the snow from roofs, in order to avoid the formation of icicles, which may injure people or damage vehicles parked.
According to the Chisinau city hall, the warnings are addressed particularly to the managers of the dwellings fund, administrators of social buildings (pre-school and pre-university, medical, culture, entertainment institutions, etc.), as well as of other buildings, nearby which there are crowds of people.
Also, the municipality appealed to citizens to remove the icicles formed at balconies and roofs.
At the same time, the Chisinau acting general mayor, Ruslan Codreanu, today informed that the snow-removing services continued interventions on secondary streets, at stops, in yards of blocks of flats, in parks and squares. According to Codreanu, more citizens joined works of removing snow in yards of blocks of flats.
On 12 January, the Economics and Infrastructure Ministry, through the State Administration of Roads, provided the Chisinau city hall with technology and workers to remove snow on municipal roads. The measure was instructed by PM Pavel Filip, following a request received from the Moldovan capital’s deputy mayor, Nistor Grozavu. Policemen and carabineers also participated in snow removal works. According to Interior Ministry’s data, employees intervened in cleaning 82 streets and 74 yards of blocks of flats. Also, the yards of 16 schools, 13 kindergartens and three hospitals were cleaned. At the same time, 62 vehicles were taken out of snow drifts. Thirty eight police crew, 136 law-enforcers and 86 carabineers were involved in the works.
The municipal authorities urge citizens to use the public transport, instead of private cars; drivers should not park on edges of streets or pavements, in order to allow snow-removing machines to intervene in due time. Also, economic agents from Chisinau and managers of real estate are asked to clean the snow on the territory where they work.
