Number of registered flue cases reaches one hundred thirty six in Moldova

Chisinau, 16 January /MOLDPRES/ – The National Agency for Public Healthcare (ANSP) has registered 136 cases of influenza since the beginning of the cold season, 53 of them only within recent week.
According to ANSP's data, the flue epidemiological situation in Moldova is currently below the epidemic threshold. According to data from districts of last week, the number of cases of respiratory infections increased by 12 per cent. During this period, there were reported 113,572 new cases of acute upper respiratory infection.
The samples taken from flue patients showed the presence of A (H1N1) and A (H3N2) viruses. The persons which have suffered from influenza have not been vaccinated.
According to data of the World Health Organisation (WHO), influenza continues to grow in the European region. There is recorded a large number of cases of influenza virus infection in Romania and Ukraine.
As to avoid illness, the epidemiologists recommend that citizens refrain from self- treatment and contact their doctors for the first symptoms of flue – compatible disease. And also avoid contact with pregnant women, immunocompromised persons, patients with cardiovascular diseases, chronic respiratory diseases, diabetes and obesity.
