Chisinau, 17 January /MOLDPRES/ – Prime Minister, Pavel Filip, urged healthcare institutions to examine and identify mechanisms for reducing the commercial additions applied to medicines marketed in the pharmaceutical networks. This initiative seeks to increase the financial and social protection of the population, as well as the access of patients to treatment and quality medical services, the government's communication and protocol department has reported.
The professionals of healthcare are expected to submit concrete proposals within a fortnight to modify the existing regulatory framework for the marketing of medicinal products. Applying differentiated mark – ups in pricing of medicines is an efficient mechanism that helps increase economic accessibility, especially expensive ones.
The necessity of implementing a system of regressing the additions on medicines was also mentioned by the World Health Organisation (WHO) in the study: The physical and economic accessibility of medicines in Moldova. According to WHO's data, about 70 per cent of the "pocket money payments" for healthcare in Moldova is paid by citizens for medicines.
