Coaches of performance athletes to get state benefits in Moldova

Chisinau, 17 January /MOLDPRES/ – The promulgation decree and the law amending Law №30/1999 on physical culture and sport will be published on 18 January in the Official Journal of Moldova.
According to the new provisions of the legislation, coaches who have prepared athletes – medalists at the Olympic or Paralympic Games, at the world or European championships will benefit from a lifetime allowance. Thus, the coaches of athletes who have won gold medals at the Olympic and Paralympic Games will receive a whole average wage, an allowance of 0.9 per cent of the average wage will be offered for the first silver medal at the Olympic and Paralympic Games, 0.8 – for the first medal bronze obtained at the Olympic and Paralympic Games or for the first gold medal achieved in the world championships, 0.7 – for the first silver medal obtained in the world championships and 0.6 – for the first bronze medal won at the world championships or the first gold medal obtained at the European championships.
Payment of life allowance will be made monthly, depending on the level of performance of the trained athletes. The data on the average salary for the economy will be used for determining the amount of the life allowance, communicated by the National Bureau of Statistics, for the month before the payment of the rights.
The present law entered into force on 01 January 2019. The Government will bring its normative acts in accordance with this law within six months from the date of publication of this law in the Official Journal of Moldova.
