PM says Moldova stays firmly connected to European development model

Chisinau, 17 January /MOLDPRES/ - Prime Minister Pavel Filip today congratulated the employees of Moldova’s diplomatic service on the Diplomat’s Day. The PM thanked the diplomats of the subdivisions of the Foreign Affairs and European Integration Ministry (MAEIE) and the Diplomatic and Consular Offices for their daily work and for contribution to the promotion of Moldova’s interests on the external stage, the government’s communication and protocol department has reported.
The prime minister noted that, although there is no full consensus on the state’s foreign policy in the Moldovan society, there is a considerable majority which clearly expresses its opinion in favour of the European vector. And the implementation of the Association Agreement has always been in the top of the government’s priorities.
,,We still have much work to do. Yet, I believe that the benefits of the European integration will gradually strengthen the consensus in our society. I want to assure you that Moldova will remain connected to the European development model and the Foreign Affairs and European Integration Ministry will continue playing the central role in coordinating this process,” the PM said.
Pavel Filip appreciated, in particular, the contribution of the Moldovan diplomacy to the promotion of the Transnistrian settlement process, including through adoption by the United Nations General Assembly of the Resolution on complete and unconditional withdrawal of the foreign military forces from Moldova. “This is an important resolution, meant to back Moldova’s efforts to defend its sovereignty and territorial integrity, to liberate its land from the illegal presence of the Russian troops,” Pavel Filip stressed.
The PM said that the subjects evoked remain the government’s future goals, which fit the pro-Moldova policy, meant to bring more prosperity to citizens, by following the European integration course, the values of the rule of law state, pluralism of opinions and freedom of expression.
The Diplomat’s Day has been marked in Moldova on 17 January starting from 2014.
