Moldovan foreign affairs ministry awards medal to more persons

Chisinau, 17 January /MOLDPRES/ - Foreign Affairs Minister of Romania Teodor Melescanu, United Nations Resident Coordinator, UN Development Programme’s Resident Representative in Moldova Dafina Gherceva and tennis player Radu Albot are among the first persons awarded the medal The Diplomatic Merit of the Foreign Affairs and European Integration Ministry (MAEIE), the MAEIE’s press service has reported.
Under an order by Minister Tudor Ulianovschi, at the official ceremony, held by on the occasion of the Professional Day of Diplomat, marked annually on 17 January, the former ambassador of the United States to Moldova , Asif Chaudhry, the former Moldovan ambassador to the USA, Alexei Cracan, the head of the state diplomatic protocol, Gheorghe Leuca, Moldova’s Ambassador to Azerbaijan, MAEIE diplomat Larisa Zalevschi and the honorary consul of Moldova in Chicago, Dorel Nasui, were also awarded the MAEIE’s distinction.
The medial, The Diplomatic Merit, in three classes, was approved under the decision No 1255 of the government from 19 December 2018 and is awarded to the staff of the institutions of Moldova’s diplomatic service, as well as to other Moldovan or foreign citizens, for the exemplary exercising of the job duties, special merits in the defence and promotion of the bilateral and multilateral political, commercial, economic, cultural and scientific relations of Moldova with the world’s states and international organizations, as well as for the promotion of a good image of the country abroad.
The badge of the medal The Diplomatic Merit represents a mono-colour round medal with a diameter of 30 mm. The relief of the Roman goddess Pax standing is on the obverse of the medal, who bears an olive branch in her right hand and a long scepter in her left hand, in bar, propped up on the earth. The coat of arms of the Foreign Affairs and European Integration Ministry and the motto, FIDES. PATRIA. HONOR" (Faithfulness, Motherland. Honour), is represented on the reverse side of the medal.
