Twelve doctoral students to benefit from Government Excellence, nominal scholarships in Moldova

Chisinau, 18 January /MOLDPRES/ – Seven doctoral students from Moldova will receive the Government Excellence scholarship for 2019 in the amount of MDL 2,500 and five other students will receive a nominal scholarship of MDL 2,000. A decision in this regard was approved by the Executive today.

According to the government's communication and protocol department, the scholarships are awarded annually to PhD students in the 2nd and 3rd years of studies, which regularly study in different fields and record outstanding academic performance. By nominating the most endowed PhD students, the Cabinet of Ministers aims to streamline the process of training the scientific staff and motivate young persons to get involved into research and development.

Altogether, there were filed 23 papers by the PhD students at nine universities in Moldova. They were evaluated by five expert groups selected by the Ministry of Education, Culture and Research (MECC), according to the scientific field and the doctoral programmes presented by participants.
