Hydrologists extend Yellow Code of unstable ice in Moldova

Chisinau, 18 January /MOLDPRES/ - The State Hydrometeorological Service (SHS) has extended the Yellow Code of unstable ice till 25 January.
According to the hydrologists, on the concerned period, the ice will be unstable and saturated with water in rivers and water basins of Moldova and getting on ice will pose increased danger.
SHS warns fishermen to be cautious and parents to supervise their children. “It is recommended that, on the period of the meteorological warning, any kinds of activities be avoided on water basins, as well nearby them,” SHS sources told MOLDPRES.
In this context, rescuers inform residents to take into account the hydro-meteorological warnings and call the 112 emergency service in case of risky situations.
In the case of the Yellow Code, the weather conditions are potentially dangerous; the meteorological phenomena forecast are usual for all the territory of Moldova; yet, they may become dangerous for certain social and economic activities.
