OSCE appreciates progress by Moldovan authorities in strengthening trust between two banks of Dniester

Chisinau, 18 January /MOLDPRES/ - Prime Minister Pavel Filip today had a meeting with OSCE Chairman-in-Office Miroslav Lajcak, the government’s communication and protocol department has reported.
The PM said that the OSCE would have a difficult mission in 2019, given the unstable security environment. Pavel Filip expressed confidence that, by joint efforts, the sides would develop an efficient cooperation for boosting the dialogue at the political negotiations and advancing in the Transnistrian settlement process.
„We want to advance as much as possible in the Transnistrian problem settlement and I assure you of every openness and involvement in this respect. During the mandate, we have proved that we can prove leadership in identifying solution for the comfort of citizens. As the people represent a priority for us,” Pavel Filip said. More protocols with impact on the residents from the left bank of Dniester were signed in 2017-2018.
OSCE Chairman-in-Office Miroslav Lajcak said that the visible progress of the authorities in strengthening the trust between the two banks of Dniester was recognized and appreciated by the international community. The official spoke out for continuing this process. Miroslav Lajcak noted that the OSCE’s Slovakian chairmanship for 2019 was held with the slogan, For People, Dialogue and Stability, and special attention was paid to the prevention, mediation and attenuation of conflicts.
Pavel Filip voiced concern about two subjects: situation at the ammunitions depot from Cobasna, which represents a threat for Moldova and Ukraine and the military exercises in the Security Zone. The PM demanded that OSCE, in its capacity of mediator, contributes to the return of the situation to normal and promotes joint goals on the need of the immediate withdrawal of the foreign military forces from the territory of Moldova.
