Lands on direction of Ungheni-Chisinau gas pipeline to be switched to state's ownership

Chisinau, 18 January /MOLDPRES/ - More lands placed on the segment for the construction of the Ungheni-Chisinau gas pipeline will be expropriated and the owners of assets till receive compensations on behalf of the state. The provision is included in a government decision, published in the today’s issue of Moldova’s Official Journal (Monitorul Oficial).
Under the document, the expropriated lands are transmitted to the management of the Economics and Infrastructure Ministry. They are in the districts of Ungheni, Nisporeni, Straseni, Calarasi and the Chisinau municipality. It is about farmlands in most cases.
According to the draft, the compensations will be paid with means allocated from the state budget and money of Vestmoldtransgaz.
The document was worked out to facilitate the construction of the pipeline for carrying gas on the Ungheni-Chisinau direction and is aimed at strengthening Moldova’s energy security through diversifying the gas supply sources.
The present decision enters into force on the date of its publication in the Official Journal.
The pipeline will have a length of 120 km. About 113 million euros is needed for building the pipeline, of which 92 million will be provided by the European Bank for Reconstruction and Development, European Investment Bank and European Commission.
