Moldovan conductor celebrates 60th anniversary

Chisinau, 19 January /MOLDPRES/ – The well – known musician, artistic director and conductor of the National Opera and Ballet Theatre Maria Biesu, People's Artist, Nicolae Dohotaru, celebrates his 60th anniversary today.
He was born in 1959 in Taplesti village, Sangerei district. In 1982 he graduated from the State Conservatory G. Musicescu, class of conductor Anatolie Ulanov, and in 1982 – 1984 he was a trainee at Professor Isai Alterman in Chisinau. In 1984 – 1986 he was an aspirant at the Moscow Institute of Culture, Orchestra Conductor, in the class of Professor Kiril Tihonov, and in 1986 – 1987 as a trainee to conductor Ovidiu Balan in Romania.
Since 1988 he has been a lecturer and head of the Department of Orchestra Conductor at the State Institute of Arts of Moldova (ISAM). Parallel, he is employed by the State Conservatory (CSM) and the National Opera (ONM). In 2011 – 2013 he acted as conductor of the Symphony Orchestra in Antalya, Turkey. Since 1990, with little interruptions, he has held the position of conductor at the National Opera and Ballet Theatre and is currently an artistic director and conductor at the same institution.
Nicolae Dohotaru has had tours in Italy, Spain, Portugal, Netherlands, Great Britain, Ireland, Switzerland, Thailand, Qatar, Germany, Ukraine, Romania, Russia etc. He has collaborated with the Symphonic Orchestra of the National Philharmonic S. Lunchevici, opera theatres in Cluj – Napoca, Brasov, Timisoara, Constanta (Romania), Opera and Ballet Theatre of Odessa (Ukraine) and Opera and Ballet International company in Great Britain.
In 1994, Nicolae Dohotaru became Master of Art, and in 2011 – Artist of the People. He is the holder of order Glory of Labour.
