All roads practicable, on some portions form snowdrifts in Moldova

Chisinau, 21 January /MOLDPRES/ – All the national roads are practicable and some parts of the road are snowy.

According to the MEI's information and media communication service, these are the segments: Chisinau – Orhei – Soroca – Otaci, Chisinau – Odessa, Chisinau – Ungheni – Sculeni, Chisinau – Leuseni, Chisinau – Dubasari, Otaci – Edinet, Balti – Falesti – Sculeni and Balti – Sarateleni.

The head of the operative service of the State Road Administration (ASD), Sergiu Capatina, told that during the night, in the north, center and south of Moldova there has fallen snow, and it is maintained ice in some places.

"During this period, there were carried out patrols, snow removal and fighting activities on the roads. There were 212 special vehicles and 249 workers on the roads. The road workers used over 1,760 tonnes of anti – skid material. All dangerous sectors are constantly monitored by road managers and, if necessary, intervened," said Sergiu Capatina.

Interviewed by agency, the press officer of the National Patrol Inspectorate (INP), Natalia Golovco, said that during snow and ice, drivers are urged to increase the distance between cars. "The patrol inspectors recommend drivers to avoid dangerous maneuvers, check the condition of brakes, provide the vehicle with winter tyres, anti – skid chains, shovel, scraper and sandbag. Similarly, the pedestrians are warned to cross only the signaling crossings after a thorough insurance," said Golovco.

In the coming days, the weather is slightly cool. At night, thermometres will indicate up to – 14ºC in the north of the country, and the day will record up to + 05ºC in the south. It will snow in isolated area all over Moldova.
