Number of cases of viruses increase in Chisinau

Chisinau, 21 January /MOLDPRES/ – More than 2,500 persons in Chisinau arrived in recent week in public healthcare institutions with acute respiratory infections. The announcement was made today by the head of the Social Assistance and Healthcare Directorate, Carolina Olaru, in the weekly meeting of Chisinau mayoral services.
According to the cited source, the number of cases of viruses increased by more than 20 per cent compared to the previous week, when there were about 2,100 cases.
"The most affected are children up to 4 years of age, with about 900 cases reported. More than 500 cases have been established at children of 5 – 14 years of age. Also, there were reported 34 cases of flue during this period," said Olaru.
Similarly, last week in Chisinau, there were 14 cases of tuberculosis and 52 cases of chicken pox. At the same time, about 190 persons addressed the doctor with fractures and traumas.
