Prices for industrial production slightly increase in Moldova in December 2018, annual growth pace drops to 0.1 per cent

Chisinau, 21 January /MOLDPRES/ - The prices at the industry producers grew by 0.1 per cent in December 2018 against the month before and the annual rate dropped to minus 0.1 per cent, according to data published by the National Statistics Bureau (BNS) today. In 2017, the prices of the industrial production increased by 2.3 per cent.
According to BNS, in last December, the highest increase in prices against the same period of the previous year was recorded in the extractive industry, respectively 5.5 per cent. The highest decrease in prices was registered in the processing industry (-0.2 per cent). In the big industrial groups, the highest advance, 2.1 per cent, was recorded in the industry of intermediary goods in December 2018 against the same period of the year before; the increase was of 1.5 per cent in the industry of capital assets and 1.2 per cent in activities and assets related to energy.
At the same time, the prices dropped by 1.4 per cent in the industry of current use assets and – by 0.3 per cent in the industry of long-use assets.
The prices of industrial products represent a measure of prices demanded by producers for products or services supplied in the first stage of commercialization.
Official statistics also shows that the evolution of industrial prices was under the level of the annual inflation rate. In December 2018, the annual inflation stood at 0.9 per cent, including 2.2 per cent for food products, 1.7 per cent for non-food products and minus 2.3 per cent – for services provided to residents.
