Moldovan electoral body sets preliminary order of registration of two potential electoral contenders in ballot paper

Chisinau, 21 January /MOLDPRES/ - The Central Electoral Commission (CEC) today established the preliminary order of registration of two potential electoral contenders in the ballot paper.
Today, they submitted the needed documents for the registration of the candidates for the MP seats on the national district for the parliamentary polls due on 24 February 2019.
After the drawing of lots, decision-makers set the preliminary order of registration in the ballot paper of the Party of Regions of Moldova with the tenth position and the Democracy Home Party, with the 11th position.
Under the Electoral Code, the Central Electoral Commission makes the registration of the candidates nominated during seven days after the date of documents’ reception. The order of registration in the ballot paper remains final only after the registration with CEC as electoral contenders in the national electoral district.
CEC has earlier set the order of registration in the ballot paper of more formations which submitted the acts for the registration as electoral contenders at the parliamentary elections, among which, there are: Democratic Party of Moldova, Party of Socialists, Party of Communists, electoral bloc ACUM – Dignity and Truth Platform and Action and Solidarity Party and the Shor Party.
The parliamentary polls due on 24 February will be held according to a mixed electoral system; the MPs are to be elected both on party lists and in uninominal districts. Also, on the election day, a consultative referendum will be conducted on cutting the number of lawmakers from 101 to 61 and MPs’ recalling from office, if they fail to properly fulfill their duties.
