Moldovan state to provide more essential medicines for free

Chisinau, 22 January /MOLDPRES/ - More essential medicines will be provided for free to all citizens, no matter whether they are insured or not. The leader of the Democratic Party of Moldova (PDM), Vlad Plahotniuc, made statements to this effect at the end of the PDM weekly meeting today.
According to Plahotniuc, the state will compensate 100 per cent more medicines necessary for the treatment of the most spread diseases. “When we took over the governance in 2016, the list of partially compensated medicines contained about 80 names. In the last years, we have increased the number of compensated medicines up to 150. We also provided the release of medicines with prescription from physician for free for all children aged up to 18 years. Today, we ruled for a string of essential medicines to be provided free of charge to all categories of citizens and we have possibility to implement this measure as early as starting from next February,” the PDM leader noted.
Plahotniuc added that he had demanded that the Health, Labour and Social Protection Ministry gives needed explanations about the list of the free of charge preparations and makes sure that the drug stores provide these preparations to citizens based on prescriptions.
