Moldova interested in boosting commercial exchanges with world's states

Chisinau, 22 January /MOLDPRES/ - Moldova is interested in the extension of the political and diplomatic dialogue with different countries, fructifying the commercial and economic relations and boosting the trade exchanges with the states of the world, including with those from Asia, Persian Gulf and other regions, as well as in the attraction of foreign direct investments into the national economy through raising the awareness of multinational companies.
Foreign Affairs and European Integration Minister Tudor Ulianovschi made statements to this effect at meetings and discussions with high-ranking officials from various states and representatives of the business environment, who participate in the biggest World Economic Forum, which opened in Davos, Switzerland, today, the Foreign Affairs and European Integration Ministry’s public diplomacy, strategic communication and media interaction service has reported.
In discussions with Finance Minister of Singapore Heng Swee Keat, the Moldovan diplomacy head showed Moldova’s interest in the extension and fostering of the country’s diplomatic presence in the Asia region through setting up an Honorary Consulate in Singapore during this year. At the same time, the two ministers exchanged opinions on taking over Singapore’s experience in the development of industrial parks and management of Smart Cities, as well as reforming the public procurement systems through the involvement of multinational companies and ensuring the institutional transparency.
At the same time, Tudor Ulianovschi had a string of meetings with representatives of multinational companies, such as Managing Director of the Bahrain Economic Development Board Simon Galpin, deputy president of the Al Dahra Holding Khadim Al Darei, executive director of the Multilateral Investment Guarantee Agency (MIGA) Keiko Honda. At the meetings, the Moldovan official reiterated the native producers’ interest in extending exports of Moldovan goods to the region of the Persian Gulf. Ulianovschi presented national projects to attract foreign investments and modernize the education process from Moldova, by taking over the best practices of MIGA.
Representatives of the Al Dahra multinational holding, who have initiated commercial ties with more than 65 states, will soon pay a fact-collecting visit to Moldova and representatives of the Bahrain Economic Development Board displayed interest in the signing of a memorandum of cooperation with the Investments Attraction Agency of Moldova.
The management of the Multilateral Investment Guarantee Agency expressed interest in providing to Moldova the best practices in the processes of regulating the public-private partnerships, as well as ensuring the guaranteeing of foreign investments in infrastructure sectors from Moldova.
The ceremony of opening of the World Economic Forum took place in Davos today, in the presence of President of Switzerland and founder of the World Economic Forum, professor Klaus Schwab. Attending the event were heads of state, prime ministers, ministers, top management of diverse international organizations, representatives of numerous multinational companies and civil society.
