Chisinau, 22 January /MOLDPRES/ - The state enterprise Moldova’s Railway (CFM) is to pay off the historical debts in salaries till late January 2019. The Economics and Infrastructure Ministry has made statements to this effect. According to the ministry, the debts have been paid off at a level of 95 per cent.
Economics and Infrastructure Minister Chiril Gaburici said that the payment of the historical debts had been possible “due to the optimization measures, making more efficient CFM’s activity, as well as the team work.”
The Economics and Infrastructure Ministry urged economic agents to carry by train building materials necessary for the renovation of national roads, included in the Good Roads for Moldova Programme. Besides the fact that economic agents reduced the traffic of high-tonnage lorries on roads, they also increased the revenues for the Railway. The new train Chisinau-Odessa brought incomes to the CFM’s budget.
The Economics and Infrastructure Ministry did not specify the value of debts accumulated by the enterprise for the payment of salaries. Last summer, information appeared in media, according to which CFM employees had not received their salaries for three months. The director of the institution has earlier said that the enterprise annually registered losses worth 100 million lei.
