Contacted by MOLDPRES, the head of the information and communication service of the National Public Health Agency (ANSP), Olesea Croitor, said that, in most cases, the persons appealed to doctor lately, trying to treat themselves at home and were not vaccinated against influenza.

The Health, Labour and Social Protection Ministry today organized a meeting of the commission for emergency situations, to discuss the epidemiological situation and rule to enhance control measures nationally. The commission members instructed the change of the purpose of beds in some medical institutions for hospitalizing people sick with flu, if the epidemiological situation worsens and to boost control and intervention measures, especially in the Chisinau municipality. The commission also ruled that all medical institutions of Moldova be provided with needed medication for treating patients ill with flu.
Data by the World Health Organization shows that the flu activity continued to grow in the European region. A large number of flu cases are recorded in Romania and Ukraine.
To avoid the falling sick, epidemiologists recommend that citizens do not resort to self-treatment and appeal to doctor at the appearance of the first symptoms compatible with influenza. Ill persons should avoid contact with pregnant women, immune-compromised people, persons with cardiovascular diseases, chronic diseases of the respiratory apparatus, diabetes and obesity.
