Chisinau, 22 January /MOLDPRES/ - The single European currency on 23 January will cheapen by 0.04 lei and the U.S. dollar – by 0.01 leu, according to the official exchange rates posted by the National Bank of Moldova (BNM).
Thus, the euro will cost 19.44 lei and the dollar – 17.12 lei.
The Romanian leu will cheapen by 0.01 leu too and will have an official price of 4.12 lei. BNM also set an exchange rate of 0.61 lei for the Ukrainian hryvnia and 0.25 lei for the Russian rouble. Both will preserve the values recorded today.
The official exchange rate represents the Moldovan leu’s price against the currencies of other countries. It is calculated based on the exchange rates established by the licenced banks in transactions of selling/purchasing of currencies, made with their clients and with other banks. Thus, the official exchange rate shows the ratio between the demand and supply of currencies on Moldova’s currency market.
